International program on the challenges of dairy farms

The Department of Animal Science of the University of Debrecen organised a three-day workshop for farmers and researchers working in the field of dairy cattle production in the framework of the Resilience for Dairy H2020 project.

Around 60 participants from fourteen European countries took part in the programs. Participants visited four intensive dairy cattle farms, where they had the opportunity to learn about milking robots, automated feed distribution, and low greenhouse gas emission flooring design.

The programmes gave the opportunity to see both Holstein-Friesian, Jersey and Hungarian Simmental heifers and cows.

The positive feedback from the participants confirmed that we have concluded a very successful programme that can effectively contribute to the long-term sustainability and resilience of European dairy farms to economic, social and environmental challenges.
