The Hungarian Academy of Sciences Debrecen Regional Committee on Animal Breeding and the Resilience for Dairy H2020 project held a scientific event entitled "The impact of climate change and heat stress on animal production and the possibilities of mitigation " at the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, University of Debrecen.

Climate change and the associated extreme temperature conditions pose a threat to Hungarian agriculture and the animal husbandry sector. The increase of frequency and intensity of extreme hot periods during summer significantly affects the efficiency of animal production. Prevention and mitigation the negative effects of heat stress are one of the most important challenges facing all animal production sectors today and in the near future. Speakers at the scientific event presented knowledge, technologies and good practices to reduce losses and consequences of heat stress, including current research on ruminants and strategies that can contribute to a resilient animal production.
