Dean's Welcome

Dear Colleagues!

Dear Students!

Dear All!

The University of Debrecen was founded on 1 January 2000 with the need to be internationally competitive, and today it is the oldest continuously operating higher education institution in the country. Its 14 faculties and 24 doctoral schools offer the widest range of training in Hungary. Today, the University of Debrecen's agricultural education, research, and development activities are carried out by three organisational units: the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management (MÉK), the Faculty of Economics (GTK), and the Institutes for Agricultural Research and Educational Farm (AKIT). The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, in line with today's scientific challenges, formulates both its training and research activities according to the circular bioeconomy model, based on the recycling of materials and values, increasing the added value of the product produced through services and smart solutions. Debrecen has always ranked high in the world ranking of agricultural higher education institutions, currently in the top 150-200.

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen currently has nearly 1,400 students, and in addition to our Hungarian-language courses, an increasing number of foreign students are enrolled in our English-language courses. Our bachelor's and master's degree programmes, talent clubs, and doctoral schools all play a key role in higher agricultural education and scientific training. We attach particular importance to maintaining a wide range of professional and economic links with businesses in the region, which both ensures the conditions for practical training and helps to exploit the scientific results generated at the University. Following the good example of our predecessors, we try to provide modern knowledge and practice-oriented knowledge to our students, so that they can continue on the path they have started and enhance the reputation of our institution and Hungarian agriculture.
