Researchers of the Plant Genomics and Plant Biotechnology Laboratories of the Agricultural Genomics and Biotechnology Center are working to decipher the complete genetic code of lentils (Lens culinaris L.) in the frame of the "DENOLEN" project. New generation sequencing (NGS) methods and bioinformatics are used for assembly of the lentil genome, using the capacity of supercomputer. Moreover between our aims are the determination of gene sequences by RNAseq on samples originating from different phenological phases of the lentil. As a results of the project by the description of the genetic information of the lentil, it will be possible to increase the efficacy of the breeding work by applying molecular genetic selection.
