Research- Institute of Water and Environmental Management

In the Institute precision agriculture and water management related researches have been in progress inter alia for many years. They shall cover surface waters, groundwaters, micro-climate properties of agricultural plants, irrigation methods and the synchronizing with GIS into databases. Airborne surveys may be made from biomass production zones which gives us exact information for internal values (carbon, nitrogen, cellulose, etc.) of field biomass, which are nowadays determined by spot-samples and laboratory analysis measurements in practice. The Institute has adequate laboratory background, which is suitable for measuring plants sap flow (which is strongly related with the evapotranspiration), leaf area determination, define of soil moisture and temperature, plant nutrients, heavy metals and other pollutants in the examination. The Institute also provides a special camera, which is suitable for remote sensing surveys, GIS lab for the creation and handling of GIS databases, and the necessary data processing and storage units, with software. Based on the assessment under the National Research Infrastructure Survey and Roadmap Project (NEKIFUT), the Complex System for Environmental Analysis and Assessment has been classified as strategic research infrastructure. The Institute have cooperated more than 30 projects with national and international partners in the last decades.
