The latest laboratory tools and techniques are available for students of the University of Debrecen with the help of the new collaboration of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food Sciences and Environmental Management and Wessling Hungary Kft.

- It is a fundamental aspect of engineering education that students develop an engineering approach, which in addition to theoretical knowledge is a prerequisite for professional practice. We consider it important that our students get to know the various large instruments not only in the laboratories of the university, but also in such well-equipped companies with international reputation as Wessling Hungary Kft. - Diana Bánáti dean emphasized at a press conference at which the Faculty of the University of Debrecen signed a cooperation agreement with the consulting, analytical and planning company.

At the Thursday event, it was said that the family business has been operating in Hungary for 27 years and is primarily engaged in environmental, food safety and drug control inspections. Through this cooperation, the Faculty of Agricultural, Food Sciences and the Environmental Management is now a new place for practical training.

- Students are given the opportunity to spend a few weeks or even a semester at our place and then work at Wessling. In addition, it is important for us to provide new, innovative responses to current challenges, particularly in the area of food safety. In this cooperation, we will rely on the knowledge base of the faculty - said László Zanathy, Managing Director.

The collaborative work will also cover microbiological, analytical and genomic research. And the scientific results may be published in the company's excellent professional magazine, Journal of Food Investigation, both in Hungarian and in English.

More than 1,400 students are studying at the Faculty of Agricultural, Food Sciences and Environmental Management of the University of Debrecen, and this year 415 applicants had been enrolled, which is an eight percent increase compared to the previous year.
