On October 15-17, 2019 the Government of Hungary organized with the active participation of Mr. János Áder, President of the Republic, the 3rd Budapest Water Summit to discuss the challenges of the emerging water crises – issues concerning abundant, scarce and polluted waters – and their social, economic, environmental and political consequences. At the largest water policy-technology event, 118 countries, including 10 at ministerial level, with 2,500 participants discussed the issue this year.
Parallel with the conference, a water industry exhibition was held to provide opportunity for Hungarian companies, institutions and organisations active in the water sector to present their products and services to the participants of the Summit. The Expo focused on sustainable, innovative, environment–friendly solutions in the field of drinking water production, water treatment, water supply and water resources management.
Similarly to previous conferences, the University of Debrecen was also represented among the 6 leading universities in water science. At the university stand, among others, Dr. János Áder, President of the Republic, was informed by Prof. János Tamás, director of the Institute of Water and Environmental Management, of the research on water science innovation at the university.
The University of Debrecen has several BSc and MSc courses in the interdisciplinary field of water science, and our research and infrastructural capabilities are outstanding internationally.
